Breakfast of Champions

Let’s give our students that best fuel for optimal learning/growing.  There are some easy grab and go breakfasts that will give our children the sustained energy and brain food needed to stay focused and energetic during their school day. The brain loves good fats and proteins and trace minerals and vitamins.  Busy moms and children love quick breakfast items. Here are a few make ahead breakfasts that are easy to grab and go.  Please share your favorite recipes and I’ll pass them on!

  1. Hard boiled eggs, bacon, and sausage cooked ahead.
  2. Scotch eggs, hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and baked.
  3. Baked oatmeal with blueberries, chocolate, nuts, etc.
  4. Breakfast cookies
  5. Power balls
  6. Smoothies (protein powder, blueberries, banana, greek yogurt, etc..)
  7. Fritatas or Quiches
  8. Apples and almond butter
  9. Ezekiel sprouted grains bread and  Kerry Gold butter
  10. Chia seed pudding with fruit

HINT: AVOID sugary breakfasts/snacks – remember 4g of sugar = 1 tsp of sugar.  So that “healthy” cliff bar with 19g of sugar is nearly 5 tsp of sugar.  Gasp!).

My favorite healthy cookbook (think bacon wrapped cinnamon apples) is The Healing Kitchen.
